The Horizon Jazz Ensemble is an after-school group that practices and performs various kinds of jazz music (including funk, rock, swing, and latin) during second semester. Consisting of both winds and a rhythm section, this group meets three times a week after school to not only rehearse jazz music to be performed in school concerts, but also to discuss some of the theory relating to jazz music. Our jazz players find themselves strengthened as musicians by playing different exercises, practicing the art of improvised soloing, and learning the nuances of a style of music different from the traditional symphonic band setting.
If your student is interested in being part of an exciting and talented group of musicians, jazz band is the place for them!
